Sebei Sub-Region NRM Delegates Endorse Museveni, Mukula Candidature for Party Leadership

Leaders of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) from the Eastern region in the areas of Bugisu, Kumi and Sebei have passed a motion endorsing President Museveni’s sole candidature as the party Presidential flag bearer and Capt. Mike Mukula as the party Vice President for Eastern Region.

On Monday, President Museveni through his lawyer picked nomination forms for both the party Presidential flag bearer and for the National party Chairman. He as well paid Shs10, 000, 000 for each position.

Capt. Mike Mukula has also since picked nomination forms for the position of Vice Chairman, Eastern Region.

During a meeting of NRM top leaders in the region at Noah’s Ark Hotel in Kapchorwa, a motion for the above resolution was moved by the NRM Chairman, Bukwo District NRM, Charicha Kwekos.

Kwekos noted that the performance of the two eminent party leaders has been outstanding as noted in the prevailing peace, road infrastructure, rule of law and economic prosperity of the people.

“I Chericha Kwekos do move for a resolution by our NRM pasrty Sebei sub-region delegates that as per the June 2019 Tuban meeting in Kapchorwa district and in considerations by all delegates on that day, our NRM party Chairman was endorsed as the sole candidate for the NRM Presidential flag bearer in the forthcoming general elections in 2021,” Kwekos noted in his motion.

He added that, Let it be resolved that Capt. Mike Mukula be endorsed to retain as a sole candidate for the seat of NRM Vice Chairperson for Eastern region of Uganda.

The motion was seconded by the current NRM flag bearer for Kween District Woman MP, Emma Rose Cherukut and Chemakwet Kisos who noted that the motion is for the benefit of the people of Sebei sub-region and it was later passed unanimously.

During the meeting, the leaders asked Capt. Mukula to be their voice before President Museveni to grant them a Minister in Charge of Teso Affairs portfolio as well as ensuring setting up of a public university in the region.

Mukula promised that their concerns shall be addressed to the President noting that he will ensured that they are followed up and implemented accordingly.

The party delegates are set to convene from 7th to 8th August for the National Council meeting in which they shall vote on the party top positions.
